RUSVM ASLAP

Greetings and welcome to Ross University's American Society of Laboratory Animal Practitioners!!

A lab animal practitioner is one who serves to improve the health and well-being of traditional research and exotic animals in captivity. 

This can be accomplished in a variety of specialties from the lab animal research facility to the home of an exotic pet owner. A traditional lab animal veterinarian has a supportive animal care and use role for research investigators by over seeing protocols and ensuring the health & safety of personnel.  A consulting laboratory animal veterinarian provides expertise and knowledge to facilities, programs, and individuals for animal care and use.  Finally, an exotic animal veterinarian educates pet owners on the proper care of their nontraditional pets. 

ASLAP is here at Ross University to help students interested in laboratory animal sciences increase their knowledge and opportunities as a research veterinarian. 

Last semester, Ross was officially recognized as an ASLAP chapter with the help of Janelle Kiersnowski, Dr. Bradford Goodwin and Dr. Harry Rozmiarek.  If you see these visiting professors on campus, give them a hi five!
